The Giving Tree

The Giving Tree

This simple and timeless tale written by Shel Silverstein chronicles the lifelong relationship between a boy and a tree who loves him. She gives him shade, apples and a place to play, but, as the child grows, he demands more of the tree and she gives him everything she has. While this book is a "message book," it leaves much to interpretation, offering readers a chance to draw their own conclusions about giving, taking, and what it means to love someone unconditionally. Beautiful story
This is a meaningful, poignant story that teaches about giving and life (save the second half for later, when your child is ready to absorb heavier themes). We received this as a baby shower gift, and it is the baby's second book (first is Mem Fox's "Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes".

The Giving Tree is a classic and worth adding to your child's library.

This book makes a great gift. I remember it from my own childhood and have my copy to pass down to my kids.

Great Story About Friendship
This is a touching story about sacrificing for someone you love. A tree gives all he has for the boy he loves, until he has nothing left to give but a stump for him to sit on. Definitely a book to include in every personal library!

Family favorite!
I had this book growing up so I had to buy it for my daughter. It's simple in its design but the message is powerful. Great read for all ages.
