Teach them how to sip from a straw with the Step 3 Mug from Combi. Once your child has mastered the Step 2 Mug, it's time for the Step 3, which allows a natural transition from drinking from a cup to drinking with a straw. Curved handles ensure that it's comfortable for little hands to hold, and the soft, flexible straw makes it easy to drink from. A locking cap is included to help prevent spills. I've been trying to teach my son to use a sippy cup since he was 6 months old and he just had no luck with any sippy cup out there. I've tried so many different ones and none worked for him! Both him and I got frustrated until I came across this Combi straw mug. He immediately figured out how to drink from the straw in the first try and at 12 months old now, he has completely transitioned from a bottle to this straw mug. This is the BEST $15 I have ever spent!
I hadn't been able to get my son to use a sippy cup at all, including the Combimug Step 2 mug, as he'd been used to fast flow (level 4) bottle nipples for drinking. After 2 or 3 sessions helping him by holding the cup for him while he experimented with using the straw, he simply picked it up himself and started drinking! Yes, it will leak some if your child holds the cup upside down or throws it, but that's in the nature of a straw cup. I'd recommend this to any parent who's baby won't take to the standard style sippy cup.

a cute straw cup but high maintenance
my daughter was able to use this cup but we've lost the small inner straw (probably washed down the drain) so it's basically useless now. I like the design of the cup but the daycare also told me that it leaks. personally I think that whether you kid drinks from this probably has little to do with the cup itself. some kids like straws, some like sippys, some just like their bottles. also depends what age you start at.
My son is fascinated by turning this cup upside down to watch the liquid pour out. For that reason, we can only serve him water in it. Anything else goes into something more baby-proof.
Also, it is VERY easy to lose the tiny little rubber straw component. I haven't figured out how to clean the minute straw out, either (another reason our cup now only holds water). I never opt for this when grabbing a cup for my son; I'd recommend trying out something else first (like the Safe Sippy Cup, which is totally awesome).
This cup is amazing. My one year old daughter was able to grasp the straw & sucking so easily! She used to drink only from bottles, and now she loves this cup so much that she yells for it - it's fun feeding! The only thing with this cup is that in order to get it to work really well, the white handle must be on in the correct position or else it leaks.
